2006 Road King front brake nut size

    Hi All

I have been looking for a socket to fit the front brake hoses as I am swapping out the handle bars to mini ape and I need to replace the front brake hoses. I had problems with this with my previous 2003 Road King, a local bike mechanic had the required socket, I no longer live in the same area and he seems to have moved and a different numbers. Can any one give me a H.D. part number or the socket size.

I have tried a 12mm 12pt socket, it slips I dont want to strip it. I have ordered a Teng 11/16 12pt socket.
I have contacted my HD dealership no joy there either.

    Hi cjharley1450,

Your 2006 Touring banjo bolts are H-D part number 41747-82A, the thread is 3/8-24 (UNF), the socket size is a 12-point 7/16".

An 11/16" is far too large, that's almost 3/4".

The Touring model caliper banjo bolts went metric in 2008 to 41750-06B they're M10 X 1mm pitch, and use a 6 point 12mm socket.

Unfortunately Cjharley, from here the tops of the bolts/nuts look a bit knurled over from careless hands, it might be difficult to get anything to bite onto what is left of the top of the bolt, I would suggest if you do get a bite on it, I would in all earnest see it as a one shot chance and get a good grip and ease it gently, perhaps spray some WD 40 around it first and change the bolt while you are at it.

edit,.. looking at it again, I'm just wondering if the bolt is a star tool head on the bottom picture.
