    HD Guaranteed Value is based upon 'book price' (ie, relevant to condition, mileage and age etc) but also the cost of accessories and custom parts if they had to be replaced. That means either genuine HD parts or aftermarket parts at the appropriate cost.

    For example, if the book is £3750 and the accessories / optional extras is £1250, the GV would be £5000, which in theory is what would be paid out in the event of a write-off.

    However, if he wanted to trade it in or simply sell it, the owner would be lucky if he got more than £4000 IMO.
