    Insurance

Happy new year all, anyone know of any specialist insurance brokers that understand motorcycles and can provide good agreed value insurance for unusual bikes?, I need to get my Big Dog insured soon as spring is not too far away.

I've used Harleys own insurance via Carol Nash over the last few years. Competitive price and good cover

For unusual bikes I’d try the ads in Back Street Heroes or American V Twin magazine.

Just a friendly word about "agreed value insurance"

Whatever value you agree with an Insurance company, ultimately, if say the bike was written off for any reason the insurance company will only pay you book price, so you could in theory cover your bike for a vast amount at a very high premium and not have what you think you have paid for when you claim.

    Hi Geezer,

Ironically none of the usual ‘brokers’ like Carole Nash (not referring to H-D Insurance Services who are owned by Carole Nash) and Bennetts will insure ANY bike worth over £20K irrespective of whether you think it may worth more or the inflated value you may wish to insure it for.
With H-D Insurance Services you still need an Agreed Valuation Form signed, stamped and dated by a dealership to confirm that what you are insuring has an agreed book price over £20K.

    Hi K9F

Yes, agreed, that would be a specific insurance cover with H-D

I had the same problem with Carole Nash when I tried to insure all of my bikes on one policy on a "multi bike policy" they took a look at the first two bikes I mentioned and didn't want to go any further, so multi bike insurance is not what it is cracked up to be.

I have had a multi bike policy in the past but when it was stopped each bike had to be insured separately and I only had 1 NCB to put on 1 bike so I had to build up NCB on other bikes over the years again, so what I saved on the multi-bike I lost in a big way when insuring the others separately.

I also found insurance companies got a bit suspicious when over valuing your bike, it is all smoke and mirrors and you are never sure what you have until the day comes.
