Hi Paw1, My belief is that if the switch is there they have to work but I may be wrong? Without delving into doing a search myself or getting into debate drop Leeds883 a PM he will undoubtedly give you the definitive answer!

    Apologies Leeds883 for name dropping.

Ashford Chroming is reputed to be very good. A mate of mine had his pipes done. You can pay extra to get a quick turnaround but it didn't quite pan out as quick as was promised. The work is top notch though.

    4.4 Direction indicators

    4.4.1 Presence, condition and operation

You must inspect all direction indicators.

Direction indicators aren’t needed for motorcycles that:
•don’t have front and rear position lamps
•have front and rear position lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked
    •can’t exceed 30mph / 50kph
    •was first used before 1 August 1986
•are ‘off road’ motorcycles designed to carry only the rider
•are ‘off road’ motorcycle combinations designed to carry the rider and one passenger in the side car

‘Off road’ motorcycles are constructed or adapted primarily for use off road. For example, their tyres, suspension or ground clearance have been adapted for off road use.

No need to apologise for the name drop and it looks like Johnny has it covered. A whole host of things changed on the 20th May this year. Apart from the exceptions above, motorcycles must have them fitted
