    Hello from Essex

Hi guys i'm Adam from Braintree Essex and after a 14 year break (kids) i'm back as a born again biker but this time much slower and enjoying the Harley pace.

I picked up this Sportster the other day with full service history and 8700 miles .It did need a meticulous clean though and it will need the rear mudguard painting over winter as the wet has got to the paint on the edges.20180411_155830.jpg20180411_155847.jpg

    Hello Adam,

A warm welcome to the forum from Calderdale in West Yorkshire.

That's a nice Sportster you have there, lets hope we have a great Summer this year so that you can get out and enjoy it.

Braintree - I know it well - used to work there in the early 80s and in the later 80s was partly responsible for building the large block of apartments in St Michael's Lane near the church. I wonder if it is still standing! Likewise some house in Coggeshall Road.

I got a couple of my bikes from Hubbards which eventually became Millers after a while. I am sometimes out that way still - usually near Earls Colne Airfield. We might cross paths at some stage.

Hi Gettin onabit Braintree has expanded quite a lot unfortunately and getting bigger daily .I don't remember the bike shops you mention ,but they may well have changed names by the time i was biking (1986)
I know Earls Colne well as i have family there . Where in Suffolk are you ?

    Hi Adam,

Jack Hubbard Motorcycles was on Rayne Road - it eventually became R Miller Motorcycles.

I am near Woodbridge - but I am from Colchester - I was married to someone from Earls Colne - they were a big family and lot are still there - in fact the name 'Adam' was a member of the family - I wonder if it is the same lot, but 1986 doesn't seem to fit.

Ahh i think they changed name to Searings and now Knight motorcycles ,they were on Rayne road .Knights are still going but have moved to the industrial estate and now specialise in ATVs.
As for Family ,ours is pretty large and i'm one of the youngest so you never know!

I remember Searings. When I worked in Braintree it was on the industrial estate off the Rayne Road on the South Side if heading West. When I was involved in the hosing developments, I worked out of Enfield and eventually Witham.

I have sent you a PM regarding Earls Colne.
