    Afixxing reg plates

I just got my plate. I wanna attach it to my fender mount which is set up for US style plates. It looks like I will have to use some sort of epoxy? What are you guys using?
The plate they issue here is plastic, so dunno if I can drill it to take a bolt. Looks liek it would crack the plate? ANyone tried that?
    Cheers!

Mine is a legal size plastic one mounted on the illegal sized layback mount. Between the plate and the mount I made a 2.5mm polished aluminium plate. The Plastoc reg plate is stuck to the ally one with a very thin type of carpet tape (several pieces @ 2" wide tape laid to cover the whole area) Once in place, I drilled the whole lot and fixed 2 x 6mm stainless screws through with loctited bullet head nuts.

Stick some insulting tape on the reg plate where you intend drilling the holes - stops the drill bit from skidding about, and just drill slowly.

Rough idea show the side view of mine below.

    Some good advice there AL,

You could use car trim double sided tape, it's available in 50 mm wide x 5 Mtrs long from Halfords or on eBay.

    Thanks guys!

What I may do then is take that car trim tape and place the Irish tag(which is a half height tag) on half of the lay back mount, and then use the top two holes to mount the old US reg. It's Ireland, so doubt I will get much crap about it unless I spend much time in Dublin. I'd like to keep my Cherokee Nation plate on display.

PS: If like mine, the laydown mount is slightly recessed providing a frame to the 'illegal' plate; there is probably a need to drop something in that recess so that the legal reg plate and aluminium backplate don't get pulled in and bent by the screws.

I was lucky, I just left the illegal plate in place.
