GB1200R, a United Nations British Styled Sportster.

Brian Laine a native of Arlington, Washington DC, bought a stock 2004 XL1200R 'Roadster' and he transferred it into his idea of a British styled Sportster. The bike has parts made in the USA, Japan, UK and Germany, a true United Nations machine.

Brian named his creation the GB1200R

    Here's how he did it.

Fuel tank :- Mid 1970's Honda CB500T, mounting brackets made by Brian.
Seat :- Mid 1970's Hercules W2000 Wankel Rotary, mounting brackets made by Brian.
Air filter :- Made on a lathe by Brian.
Headlight shell :- Triumph T140 Bonneville pattern.
Headlight unit :- Sealed beam unit for a British car.
Headlight brackets :- Kawasaki undisclosed model.
Front mudguard :- Stainless steel Norton Commando.
Exhaust :- Paughco made for early Sportster, modified by Brian to fit a rubber mounted Sportster.
    Silencer :- Stock H-D item.
    Fork gaiters :- genuine H-D.
Luggage rack :- Fabricated by Brian.
Paint :- Subaru metallic dark green.

    The finished GB1200R.

    Work in progress.

I personally think the bike would benefit from a British rear mudguard and a Lucas or Wipac rear light unit, junking the rear fender struts, alloy wheel rims with stainless spokes, front indicators moved from the handlebars to the headlight brackets and clubman style handlebars. But that's just my opinion.

Each to their own, it's a quality looking bike, and no mistake but it doesn't do owt for me . Rolling Art customs were doing something similar with sporties.
    FTW )
