    Exhaust and headlamp

I am looking for an emarked exhaust and UK headlamp to get my '11 1200 custom through MSVA. I had found a headlamp on ebay, but it turned out to be dipped to the wrong side and not UK legal as claimed, so I am reluctant to go that route again.

You could go that route and just put the sticker on the light to make it uk compatible. You could also try Hogfathers, but that might be a bit more expensive than ebay
    FTW )

What sticker? The approval is normally cast in the glass lens or the front housing behind the lens.

^^^Stickers IF indeed available, will not cut the mustard and if you go E-Bay with Chinese copies as proven there is no guarantee it'll even point the right way! You get what you pay for! Somebody that has swapped their OEM one out for a Daymaker may have one as a loaner or speak to your dealership to see what they have laying about.

Thanks Mick. Unfortunately the sporty takes the little 5 3/4" light.

Last time i had that problem with a grey import, we put a sticker on to reduce it reflecting towards oncoming vehicles. was a long time ago though. I really shouldnt offer advice on technical forums, hey ho

Thanks, Whistler. Apparently one can get by with the sticker for MOT but not for MSVA. I have located the supposedly correct headlamp now, I'll believe it when I switch it on and it dips the correct way.

No worries, we used to do it a long time ago and it worked fine. Let us know how you get on.

On posting abroad with a vehicle and subsequently returning after your tour we were subjected to similar tests and quite often the dealerships would throw in a set of European lights free-gratis knowing you were a serviceman when buying new from the UK. You could drive for a maximum of 30 days on 'stickers' that would blank the light bias, thereafter you had to get the car tested and having the wrong lights stickered or not would be a fail.

Apologies Whistler I stand corrected for the stickers regarding MOT!

'Flat beam' lights which are available for many marques are the best as they are not biased one way or the other.

No worries, the missus thinks I'm wrong at times too, but I know better.
