Wiping one's minge and manning up can yield good results if one is careful.

Great news!! Looks like you may be saving yourself some money and getting yourself back on the road way before next Tuesday? You could pull solenoid trigger switch wire from connector to Starter motor, loop out the start switch, put your ignition to on and run switch to run, then carefully reconnect the trigger switch wire from connector to Starter motor.

If she starts this will discount the bike wiring and point to the start switch alone.

Yeah happy to narrow it down a bit!

Hmmm can you explain that to me like I'm a five year old please!?

What do you mean by loop out the start switch? How can I do that?

Sorry this may seem like an idiotic comment to someone clued up like yourself!

The switch will be a 'normally open' set of contacts which when depressed will close allowing the electric to pass through to the business end, a bit like the isolation switch adjacent to many domestic three pin sockets.
'Loop out' is electrical jargon for short circuiting anything. So you basically need to short out the start switch with a small length of wire so you don't need to press it at all.
