    First Harley

Been a life long dream of mine to own a Harley. Finally got there this Christmas and bought myself a low rider s, Harley couldn't of made a better bike for me it suits me down to the ground can't believe the handling it's like a sports bike minus the lean angle, the power is great and even sounds decent standard. Considering some Vance and Hines short shots not 100% decided yet I can live with it standard no problem. Ordered a biltwell gringo lid some goggles and some nice brown gloves today too, roll on spring and let's get some mileage and enjoyment out of the beast. Here's a pic :-

    Hello Tinytom,

I remember there being a Harley-Davidson dealership in Doncaster called St Ledger H-D. It closed down in 2011 along with Leeds H-D and Manchester H-D. Leeds was the only one of the three that reopened. Leeds H-D is run by Jennings, they also run Gateshead H-D.

In May 2011, I put a deposit down on an XL883N Iron in denim black at Leeds H-D. The bike I put the deposit on was at St Ledger H-D as Leeds H-D didn't have any new 2011 Iron's left in stock. I heard on the grapevine that the franchise company which ran all three dealerships was in financial trouble and Harley-Davidson UK wouldn't release any new bike keys to them. In June 2011, all three dealerships were closed down, the franchiser liquidated and receivers took over responsibility for their financial affairs. Luckily I'd paid my deposit using my debit card, so the receiver rang me and arranged to pay me back my deposit of £500.

I then rang Preston H-D and they had a new XL883N in denim black, I bought it over the phone using my debit card and collected it on the following Saturday. A happy ending to the story, I still have the Iron today.

Enjoy your Low Rider S, I think of it as the grown up version of my Iron.

    Best Regards,

    Dave.

I remember going out with a girl from Doncaster. Had some great nights out in some great biker pubs in the early 90,s.
