    Hey...wanna see my legs??

so today the bikes had a wash, polish with a clay&T cut then I got on with the task of trying to buff up the lower forks to try and scrub away the pitting...bloody hard work made even harder by the fact I used the micro mesh in the wrong order!
Bloody donut!...managed one leg today, looks better and after an hour I'd had enough so the left one will have to wait for another day.

After an hour& cramp in the wrist...

I find the reflectors more revolting than the piting

Vast improvement. Using an electric polishing head together with a medium such as Wadpol or Autosol could with little effort bring them up further should you wish?

The reflectors are normally glued on. A length of fishing line wiggled down the back and a bit of patience and bob's your uncle - no reflectors. Polish as required!

If you have access to a polishing wheel this is what can be achieved. Thought I'd share the photo.

Wow - that's impressive. How long did that take? I'm sure people would pay for that service!

I have two polishing wheels and have had equally impressive results turning a brushed stainless steel finish into a mirrored one. The above wasn't my work but apparently it was a single days work for both legs done at home on a grinder with a polishing wheel attached. They are Harley-Davidson forks depicted. For the intricate areas a Dremmel 4000 was used to finish them off. Just shows what can be achieved with perseverance and ingenuity. Well worth the effort for such a fine finish in my book!
